Description
ND Yorkshire, York, S Maurice’s, Brass Shilling Token
A nice example of this scarce church token. Gary Oddie and Bob Lyall (Token Corresponding Society Bulletin Vol. 5 No. 6 and Vol. 6 No. 1) have suggested that this is a church token (one of three denominations) issued by St Maurice’s in York, most likely in the early 20th century. Diameter 26mm. Lightly worn and well detailed.
O: S MAURICE’S YORK.
R: 1/-.
I would grade this token Good Very Fine (Sheldon AU53) but I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
For uncertified coins I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
