Description
ND Surrey W.259, Rotherhithe, John Gibbs, Farthing Token, N.-
A nice example of a very rare 17th century token which was absent from the Norweb Collection. Worn but reasonably well detailed.
O: JOHN GIBS IN REDRIF around an apple tree.
R: AT THE ORCHARD HOVS around cable inner circle, G over IS within.
This token is listed in Dickinson as Surrey W.259 and is unlisted in Norweb. I would grade this token Good Fine (Sheldon EF40). I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
For uncertified coins I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
