Description
1667 Surrey D.221B, Richmond, Nicholas Beckett, Halfpenny Token, N.4696
A nice example of this 17th century token which was previously attributed to Yorkshire but is now known to be from Surrey. Worn with slightly crimped edges but otherwise well detailed.
O: NICKOLAS BECKETT around cable inner circle, HIS HALF PENY within.
R: AT RICHMOND 1667 , around cable inner circle, a tree within.
This token is listed in Dickinson as Surrey 221B and in Norweb as N.4696. I would grade this token Fine (Sheldon VF20 details). I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
For uncertified coins I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
