Description
1657 Staffordshire, W.33, Lichfield, Thomas Minors, Farthing, N.-
A nice example this 17th century token, and seemingly a scarcer variety from this issuer. Absent from the Norweb and Watkin collections. Worn but with some detail remaining.
O: THOMAS MINORS around linear inner circle, Mercer’s Arms within.
R: IN LICHFEILD around linear inner circle, TM over 1657 within.
This token is listed in Dickinson as Staffordshire 33 and is unlisted in Norweb. I would grade this token Fine (Sheldon VF20). I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
For uncertified coins I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
