Description
1657 Staffordshire, D.14A, Darlaston, William Keeling, Farthing, N.-
An extremely rare 17th century token. Absent from the Norweb and Watkin collections and unlisted in Boyne & Williamson, I can find no recent public sale of this token. Well worn but with clear legends and a little detail remaining.
O: WILLIAM KEELING around cable inner circle, K over WS within.
R: IN DARLASTON around cable inner circle, 1657 within.
This token is listed in Dickinson as Staffordshire 14A and is unlisted in Norweb. I would grade this token Fair (Sheldon G4). I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
For uncertified coins I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
