Description
ND Southwark D.152A, Bear Quay, Philip Stower, Farthing Token, N.6539obv
An extremely rare token with a reverse which was absent from the Norweb collection. Williamson listed this issuer under Southwark but it is properly listed in Norweb as City Of London. Well worn and struck on a bar end, but with a little remaining.
O: PHILLIP STOWER AT around cable inner circle, a chained bear within.
R: THE BARE AT BARE KEY around cable inner circle, PS within.
This token is listed in Dickinson as Southwark 152A and the obverse is in Norweb as N.6539. I would grade this token Very Good (Sheldon F12). I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
For uncertified coins I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
