Description

ND (1836) Northumberland, Hareshaw Common, Copper Boundary Token, W.2701, D&W 303/21

A nice example of this boundary token. Undated but it is believed the Duke of Northumberland only issued tokens for the 1836 perambulation. Lightly worn and well detailed.

O: ESPE RANCE around crowned Garter, a crescent within.
R: A BOUNDARY TOKEN.

This token is listed in Withers, The Token Book 3 as W.2701 and in Davis & Waters, Tickets & Passes of Great Britain & Ireland as D&W 302/21. I would grade this token Very Fine (Sheldon AU50) but I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.

For uncertified coins I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
