Description
1669 Leicestershire W.32, Leicester, John Browne, Halfpenny Token, N.2826
A nice example of this scarce 17th century token issued by a Leicester candle maker. Worn with a slightly ragged edge, but otherwise reasonably well detailed.
O: IOHN BROWNE around beaded inner circle, man making candles within.
R: OF LEICESTER 1669 around beaded inner circle, HIS HALF PENY within.
This token is listed in Dickinson as Leicestershire 32 and in Norweb as N.2826. I would grade this token Fine (Sheldon VF20). I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
For uncertified coins I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
