Description
1655 Gloucestershire W.161, Stroud, William Hopton, Farthing Token, N.1716 Rev
A nice example of this 17th century token struck from an obverse die not represented in the Norweb collection. Worn but reasonably well detailed. Presented with old ticket.
O: WILLIAM HOPTON around cable inner circle, three cloves within.
R: OF STROWD 1655 around cable inner circle, WH within.
This token is listed in Dickinson as Gloucestershire 161 and the reverse die in Norweb as N.1716. I would grade this token About Fine (Sheldon F15). I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
For uncertified coins I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
