Description
1793-H France, National Convention, Bell Metal 2 Sols, KM.619.11, Gad.31
A lovely example of this revolutionary period coin struck at La Rochelle. A type which is seldom encountered in higher grades. Lightly worn and well detailed. Presented with old collector’s ticket (incorrectly showing 1792).
O: Tablet inscribed, radiating eye above, date below, bunch of grapes on the left and ears of wheat on the right.
R: Denomination in an oak wreath attached to a scale surmounted by a Phrygian cap, mint letter and date below, motto around.
I would grade this coin Good Very Fine (Sheldon AU53). I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
For uncertified coins I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
