Description
1792 France, Christopher Potter Porcelain, Rue De Crussol, Paris, AR 10 Sols, Maz.169
A lovely example of this extremely rare revolutionary period token which was struck at Paris. In 1789, the English manufacturer (and former MP) Christopher Potter set up the Prince Of Wales porcelain factory in the Rue de Crussol. Struck from a heavily cracked reverse die as usual. Lightly worn and well detailed with pleasing toning. Presented with old collector’s ticket which provenances this piece to the collection of Lord Grantley which was auctioned by Glendinings over several sales between 1943-45.
