ND 18th Century Essex, D&H 11b, Dunmow, Halfpenny Conder Token

An attractive example of this 18th century Conder token produced by Peter Skidmore. The Dunmow flitch trial, and ceremonial awarding of a flitch of bacon, dates back to the 12th century and continues to this day. Lightly worn and well detailed. Presented with old collector’s ticket.

O: Shield of arms. MAY DUNMOW PROSPER 1793.
R: A flitch of bacon, PAYABLE AT DUNMOW ESSEX
E: Plain (not in collar).
