Description
Circa 1630-35, De Passe Gaming Counter, Henry VII, MI I 379/281
An affordable example of this early seventeenth century silver gaming counter produced by the school of Simon van de Passe. This is from the scarcer “full length figure” set. Lightly worn and well detailed but with a couple of edge chips. Ex Baldwin’s Vault.
This counter is listed in Hawkins, Franks and Grueber, Medallic Illustrations Of British History, Vol 1 as 379/281. I would grade this token Good Fine (Sheldon VF35 details) but I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
