A lovely example of this silver medalet. Originally produced to commemorate the 1837 marriage of Princess Marie of Orléans to Duke Alexander of Württemberg. Princes Marie died in 1839 and this tiny piece was produced posthumously in 1840. Well struck and lustrous with attractive residual toning. Diameter 15mm.
O: Bust facing right. MARIE D’ORLEANS DUCHESSE DE WURTEMBERG. 1840 beneath truncation. MONTAGNY below.
R: Statue of Joan Of Arc. STATUE DE JEANNE DARC.
I would grade this medal Good Extremely Fine (Sheldon MS62), but I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
For uncertified coins I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
