1790's Cheshire, D&H 62, Macclesfield, Counterfeit Halfpenny Conder Token

A lovely example of this 18th century Conder token. An impossible contemporary counterfeit  which mules a copy of the 1790 obverse with a poor copy of the 1789 obverse. Well struck with light wear and toned to a reddish brown with much original lustre.

O: Bust of Charles Roe. CHARLES ROE ESTABLISHED THE COPPER WORKS 1758.

R: A cypher R.& C.

E: PAYABLE IN LANCASTER LONDON OR BRISTOL

This token is listed in Dalton & Hamer as Cheshire 62. I would grade this token Extremely Fine (Sheldon AU58). I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.

For uncertified coins I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
