Milled - 19th Century
1816 Great Britain, George III, Bank Of England 3 Shillings, S-3770
A lightly circulated example of this coin from a short series which was issued by the Bank Of England to fill a desperate need for silver coins in the early years of the nineteenth century. Light wear to the high points with even grey toning. I would grade this coin Good Very Fine (Sheldon AU53), but I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.
I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
