1745 Great Britain, George II, Lima Shilling, S-3703, CGS EF 60

1745 Great Britain, George II, Lima Shilling, S-3703, CGS EF 60

A barely circulated example of this popular type coin. LIMA under the bust of George II indicates that this coin was struck from silver captured by British raids on Spanish colonies in Central and South America. A trace of wear to the high points and toned slate grey. I would grade this coin Extra Fine (Sheldon AU58), but it has also been encapsulated and graded EF 60 by Coin Grading Service UK. I have provided high-resolution close up photos so you can decide on a grade for yourself.

I provide a grading opinion using both the UK descriptive system and the Sheldon scale (based on ANA Grading Standards and/or PCGS Photograde) which will be better known to my US customers. I offer a grading opinion as a courtesy, but please examine the high resolution close up photos carefully and decide on a grade for yourself.
